Das Hospital zum Heiligen Geist ist eine der wichtigsten Sozialstationen der mittelalterlichen Stadt Treysa. Hier ging es nicht um Macht oder Repräsentation, sondern um Hilfe: um Arme, Kranke, Bedürftige und um die Frage, wie eine Stadt Verantwortung für ihre schwächeren Mitglieder übernimmt.
Gegründet wurde das Hospital bereits vor 1367. Als soziale Einrichtung diente es im Mittelalter der Fürsorge für arme und kranke Menschen. Besonders prägend ist dabei Elisabeth Vogelsang, die um 1400 starb und in der Hospitalskapelle bestattet wurde. Eine Inschrift erinnert daran, dass sie sich um den Bau des Hospitals sehr bemüht hatte.
Damit bekommt das Hospital ein Gesicht. Elisabeth Vogelsang steht für jene Menschen, die nicht nur fromm stifteten, sondern konkret Verantwortung für ihre Stadt übernahmen. Ihr Name verbindet Fürsorge, Baugeschichte und Erinnerung an einem Ort.
Heute ist das Hospital außerdem ein Ort der Stadtgeschichte. Im Steinbau befindet sich die Sammlung des Stadtgeschichtlichen Arbeitskreises Treysa. So verbindet dieser Ort mittelalterliche Fürsorge mit heutiger Geschichtsarbeit – und macht sichtbar, dass Erinnerung immer auch weitergetragen werden muss.
The Hospital of the Holy Spirit is one of the most important social places in medieval Treysa. It was not about power or representation, but about help: poor people, sick people, those in need, and the question of how a town takes responsibility for its weaker members.
The hospital was founded before 1367. As a social institution, it served in the Middle Ages to care for poor and sick people. Elisabeth Vogelsang is especially important here: she died around 1400 and was buried in the hospital chapel. An inscription recalls that she had made great efforts for the construction of the hospital.
Through her, the hospital gains a human face. Elisabeth Vogelsang stands for people who did not only donate piously, but took concrete responsibility for their town. Her name connects care, building history and memory in one place.
Today the hospital is also a place of town history. The stone building houses the collection of the Stadtgeschichtlicher Arbeitskreis Treysa. This connects medieval welfare with present-day historical work – and shows that memory must always be carried forward.
L’hôpital du Saint-Esprit est l’un des lieux sociaux les plus importants de la ville médiévale de Treysa. Il ne s’agissait pas de pouvoir ou de représentation, mais d’aide : les pauvres, les malades, les personnes dans le besoin et la question de la responsabilité de la ville envers ses membres les plus fragiles.
L’hôpital fut fondé avant 1367. En tant qu’institution sociale, il servait au Moyen Âge à prendre soin des pauvres et des malades. Elisabeth Vogelsang y occupe une place particulière : elle mourut vers 1400 et fut enterrée dans la chapelle hospitalière. Une inscription rappelle qu’elle s’était fortement engagée pour la construction de l’hôpital.
Ainsi, l’hôpital reçoit un visage humain. Elisabeth Vogelsang représente des personnes qui ne se contentaient pas de faire des dons pieux, mais assumaient concrètement une responsabilité pour leur ville. Son nom relie assistance, histoire du bâtiment et mémoire en un seul lieu.
Aujourd’hui, l’hôpital est aussi un lieu d’histoire urbaine. Le bâtiment en pierre abrite la collection du Stadtgeschichtlicher Arbeitskreis Treysa. Ce lieu relie ainsi l’assistance médiévale au travail historique actuel – et montre que la mémoire doit toujours être transmise.
El Hospital del Espíritu Santo es uno de los lugares sociales más importantes de la Treysa medieval. Aquí no se trataba de poder ni de representación, sino de ayuda: pobres, enfermos, personas necesitadas y la pregunta de cómo una ciudad asume responsabilidad por sus miembros más débiles.
